Just like any other day, I was sitting on the sofa at in my living room and watching a video on Youtube, then another and another in a row until a point when I found a video that was related to finance. My first thought was "why am I watching this?" And the second thought was " what's the harm ?" Maybe I get to learn something.
After about 3.56 seconds, I heard a line of the speaker and it fascinated me to the point that I want to write it in my diary. The video was in our national language, so I began to write it in Hindi. And I soon realized that I don't know how to write "financial" in Hindi. I was confused about the spelling. I wrote it on a piece of paper that was kept simultaneous to my diary on the blue table. But I was still not sure. I paused the video and tried to right Hindi 'varnamaala' just to test my vocab in the language
I fumbled after the third 'vyanjan'. I got a bit skeptical if it was "gha" or "dha". Then I realised, that I didn't know how to write in hindi on a keyboard ! I first thought that I don't know basic spellings in Hindi ! And yes let me tell you I scored 86 in the subject in boards !!
Then, I questioned myself 'Why?'...the answer was pretty clear to me, there is nothing pretty about it at all.
I haven't read or wrote in Hindi after 10th std.

Today, the Indians are proud of flaunting about the western culture that has been in the trend only since past three decades or so. Why ain't we able to do the same with our mothertongue i.e. Hindi ?
Seven years of disconnect from reading and writing in Hindi and I forgot the ten years of learning it !
Not a day passes by when we don't speak it, not a day passes by when I don't practice it, then what is the factor that stops me to express my thoughts in it on a paper.
And I am also writing all this in English only, that is not ours. Mainly because of the fear that How many people actually read Hindi ?
Just like oranges are new black, English is the new language for our country. Ever heard a Pakistani using English before Urdu ? Well, I have not ! Maybe that's the reason they do, and we just wait !
Although its very inhuman and satanic, what they preach, but they preach it with all their hearts, even if it's destructive. Recent Pulwama attack caused me to relate the failure of my Hindi vocabulary to their Urdu.
So, is it that we as a citizen of India are less proud of the "Indianness we have" or are they more true to what their culture preach ?
