Pani Puri
On a Wednesday evening i went with my husband to have pani puri, i wasn't much in the mood to have it but the husband wanted to and as he says i am the sarthi to him. We drove off in our WagonR and reached about 5 km away from our place near Birhana Road to have pani puri...oh so delicious pani puri, as my husband would call it.
Now as I told you already I was in no mood to have it but I accompanied my husband so as I was standing near the thela of the gorgeous looking Pani Puri instantly my eyes went onto the gigantic hoarding of the marvellous Sonam Kapoor hoarding a necklace worth of crores and beneath that was a women standing in shattered clothes holding her frail daughter. There were at least 10 people gathered near the thela and eating the oh-so-lip-smacking puris but no one cared about that poor mom and her child. both looking desperately at the people standing in a circle I was the only one who was standing at the side, was just thinking about the dilemma of life just then the multi millionaire golgappa owner threw the panipuri water on the little girl standing there. I couldn't process what happened for a minute.
Everybody stopped for a second, saw the drenched in spicy water girl and resumed to relishing the good old puchkas in their hand. While i just kept staring at the disparity as i wasn't with one paper plate in my hand my distractions were limited.
I think, i was effected the most by this act of the puchka owner orrrr was the most hurt were the mother and daughter?
i believe we all know the answer.. but the point isn't about how much they were hurt they must have been facing all this nonsense since the child was born or more so the mother was born!
My mind shifted to the hierarchy of society, as the Maslow's heirarchy of needs, the first level consists of physiological needs, the basic needs of a human...food, water, shelter, and its so unfortunate that these people could not afford the basic necessities of life. and who is at fault really? Are we not supposed to look after or at least behave with them like they are humans if not one of us? India is said to be the country that celebrates brotherhood and we are setting what kind of examples for our future generations to come?
Nothing is to be blamed of the "young generation" , lets look at what we are making them witness of and might want to think what is happening in this country and what are we making the generations do by throwing spicy water on someone who probably did nothing but stood on road that is the right of any citizen of India!
